An Update From the RFHA President

A question was raised by a fellow member and neighbor. Since many of you have had the same question about the entrance sign and the baby pool, I would like to use her question and reply to everyone and ask communications to post it to the website.

Thanks, Ed

-----------

We are currently having to fight with the insurance company about the sign. They tried to depreciate the sign saying it had a 25 year life and therefore was only worth about 3/4 of the replacement cost. We did not feel that it was the responsibility of the members to make up the difference since it was the insured driver who was at fault. We have an attorney involved and it should be resolved shortly. I would also like to see it completed and agree with your position that it is not appealing.

The baby pool has been slated for construction later this fall after the primary pool season is closed. The board discussed the options of construction during the open season and felt that construction at that time may have created an unsafe recreation space. We were unable to start the project earlier in the year because we needed to have the 2006 membership funds.

The way the budget works is it costs about 50k per year to run the subdivision and we take in about 80k. That means that each year we have about 30 for parties and projects - so we generally schedule one major project for each year. Sometimes the projects are invisible (such as resurfacing the pool or repainting the lamp posts and clubhouse) other times they are highly visible (in the case of the new playground or the upcoming baby pool). In any event we try to schedule out those thing that bring the most benefit to the most people.

As this is a question that many people have asked I want to take the liberty to forward this to the balance of the neighborhood and have it posted on our
website. As we make progress, we will make sure to keep everyone in the loop.

Jennifer, thanks for your interest and concern.
